Every Yamaha R looks its best with nothing behind the rider. That's the idea behind the Seat Cowl GP V1, our new solo seat cowl inspired by the tail units of MotoGP bikes, and the first RaceLab part designed for the whole R family, not just the R9.
A true single-seater, with winglets
The Seat Cowl GP replaces the passenger seat and turns your bike into a single-seater. Its integrated winglets give the rear end a sharper, more aggressive race look than the stock cowl, carrying the aero styling of the front of the bike all the way to the tail.
Functional aerodynamics: airfoil section and lean angle
The winglets are not decorative. Each one uses a dedicated airfoil section: like an aircraft wing, its cambered profile accelerates the airflow over one surface and creates a pressure differential between both faces, which is what generates aerodynamic load.
On a motorcycle, the orientation of any aero surface changes with lean. That's why the position and angle of attack of the winglets were defined for the bike's maximum lean angle: when the bike is fully leaned over, the winglets reach their most efficient operating point, instead of being optimised only for the bike upright.
Direct replacement, no cutting
It's a direct replacement for the original Yamaha rear seat cowl. It mounts in the passenger seat position and is secured with just 2 screws. There's no cutting and no modifications to the bike.

Material and finishes
The Seat Cowl GP is made from durable ABS. You can order it painted to match the official Yamaha colours, Yamaha Blue, Yamaha Black or Yamaha White, or in Raw 3D, with its raw 3D finish and no paint.
